I, too, am assuming you do mean Microsoft Works. Another option would be to try using WordPad which is included with Windows and is a rudimentary Word Processor. LibreOffice is a good product and should give you at least the functionality you had with Works. It is not Microsoft Office, but it is free. So it is possible.
