I would always clear the code and re-tighten my gas cap but it would always come back. Code P0442 AGAIN! It runs well, but burns through a tank of gas fast. Getting about 7-8 MPG. There is also black smoke emitting from the tail pipe when the engine is revved up. Code reader shows P0171, P0551, P0455, P1195.Code P0440 is also set if any component in the fuel vapor system is leaking like a gas cap vent, vent valve, carbon canister, fuel filler neck, or any of the many fuel vapor recovery components. The fuel vapor pressure sensor is faulty causing an incorrect reading input to the ECM. Reply..
